A-1 Building Construction, Fire Protection and Basic Hazards (Insurance Institute of Canada CIP Course C36)

  • This five day course including examination, will provide you with valuable information on building construction, common fire hazards and fire protection techniques.
  • The practical information derived from this course will improve your understanding of risk analysis and provide you with essential information that you can apply on a day-to-day basis, whether you are involved in underwriting, claims or loss prevention.

A-2 Special Hazards and Processes (Insurance Institute of Canada CIP Course C37)

  • This five day course including examination, will explain many of the hazards found in industry today. You will review different types of industrial processes, learn how to assess various associated hazards and gain insight into effective methods of protecting against costly losses.
  • The knowledge gained in risk assessment and loss control will assist you in improving underwriting profitability.

A-3 Liability Loss Prevention (Insurance Institute of Canada CIP Course C38)

  • This four day course including examination, will improve your understanding of liability hazards and offer solutions to complex and potentially costly liability loss exposures in today’s litigious society. You will learn how to protect against unforeseen losses and minimize unavoidable risks.
  • Using case studies, you will learn valuable techniques to help you make informed decisions to minimize and prevent liability losses.

RESCUE – Residential Education Seminars Concerning Underwriting & Evaluation

These seminars provide participants with insight into current underwriting issues and include an overview of the inspection process.

Systems of Evaluation – Replacement Cost Issues Made Easy

This seminar takes a detailed look into replacement valuation issues. Participants will come away with a better understanding of residential construction costs and their relationship to insurance value.

Topics for discussion include factors affecting replacement cost, a review of evaluation systems and an overview of home construction specific to the variables in structure types.

Residential Systems – An Overview of the Mechanics of a Home

This seminar provides insight into the internal mechanicals of a house, including the electrical, plumbing and heating systems, as well as roof coverings.

Discussion is focused on code compliance, providing attendees with limited knowledge in this area sufficient information and confidence to make informed underwriting decisions.

Solid Fuel Burning Systems – From Floor Pad to Chimney: The Visual Inspection of a System

This seminar provides a detailed review of wood heat. Emphasis is directed toward safety concerns, code compliance and a hands-on approach to this viable heat source.

Topics covered include an overview of wood and pellet burning appliances, combination furnaces, venting, shielding and floor protection. The knowledge obtained from this session will allow participants to better understand the workings of a solid fuel burning system.

Fuel Storage Tanks – From Installation to Failure

This seminar provides an insurance perspective of domestic fuel storage tanks giving insight into failures that not only affect the environment, but property owners and insurance companies alike. Proper installation of domestic oil tanks as well as propane tanks will be reviewed.

Topics for discussion include signs of deterioration, code compliance, proper installation and potential exposure to the insurer.
